Artists affiliated with the University of Nigeria at Nsukka who were influenced by those trained a generation before at Zaria. Under the artist Uche Okeke, who headed Nsukka's art department during the 1970s and 1980s, and who as an art student had been a founding member of the Zaria Art Society, the tenets of natural synthesis were carried over into the university's art curriculum. Several Nsukka artists incorporated the Igbo uli motifs central to Okeke's art in their own practices.
